Ali Kaya indicated that every year in Turkey especially in construction, telecommunications and energy sectors where working at height activities are common occupational accidents occur and when we look at the last 5 years’ statistics we can see that every year approximately 1400 people die because of occupational accidents.
Ali Kaya also explained that “According to Occupational Health and Safety Regulations; if there are any differences in levels and possibility of getting injured, a work carried out in construction areas are considered as working at height. According to the statistics of Occupational Health and Safety Agency (OHSA), 85 % of fatal accidents occurs at works performed over 3.4 meter. Lack of education and a momentary lack of attention can lead to accidents.”
Accidents and Losses will be reduced,
Ali Kaya concluded his speech by telling “Nothing in this world is more important than human life. Falls from height is the second in the injuries that are caused by accidents at work and the first in deaths. Therefore, working at height should be handled specially and the regulation for working at height should be formed and released in order to reduce the accidents.”
